The GMC lineup has some of the most impressive SUVs and trucks on the market, including a wide range of options in different sizes that can meet just about any need. If you’re looking for a large and powerful SUV at your GMC dealer near Morris, then it’s time to check out the Yukon and Yukon XL to see what they have to offer.

As their names might suggest, these two models are very similar; their primary distinction is their sizes: both are full-size SUVs, but the Yukon XL is bigger and gives you more room inside. Figuring out whether this is the right option for you is pretty easy and largely depends on what you’re looking for in your next SUV. Let’s take a good look at the two Yukon models, and we’ll see if this is the SUV you’ve been looking for—if not, there’s sure to be a GMC model that delivers everything you want.

GMC Yukon Power and Performance

No matter which Yukon model you’re looking at, what you’ll find is a large vehicle that demands a tremendous amount of respect on the road. With such a big SUV, you need plenty of power to keep you in control and make driving it enjoyable; fortunately, GMC understands this, and you have several remarkable engines to choose from for both models.

Looking at the 2025 GMC Yukon, there’s a standard 5.3L V8 engine that provides 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, ensuring you can get around Morris and feel good when you’re behind the wheel. Every Yukon and Yukon XL comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and you can find both two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) models.

If you want boosted power, then two other engines are available for the Yukon models to enhance your time on the road. There’s a 6.2L V8 engine that delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, which is generally our favorite for getting the most from this SUV.

One thing that sets the Yukon apart from many other SUVs out there is the available 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine that provides 305 hp and an incredible 495 lb-ft of torque. Not everyone is looking for a diesel engine in their SUV, but if this is something that you’re interested in, then these Yukon models are unbeatable.

Gorgeous Exterior Details and Features

From the moment you first set eyes on the GMC Yukon, you can tell that you’re looking at something special. Not only is it remarkably large, of course, but it also looks absolutely stunning. It’s clear that GMC’s designers have put in a lot of work to ensure the smooth lines and graceful curves of the Yukon and Yukon XL beautifully complement the power that it brings to the road. The result is an SUV that you’ll be proud to have parked in your driveway and that you’ll look forward to driving around Morris each day.

Standard features on the Yukon models include 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, which are large and perfectly suited to this powerful SUV. You get bright chrome bodyside moldings and a stylish front fascia on the Yukon, plus black assist steps and LED exterior lighting, which are standard. Looking at something like the 2025 Yukon Denali Ultimate model, you’ll find massive, 24-inch After Midnight Metallic wheels that provide an incredibly bold and aggressive stance for this SUV. The Denali Ultimate also features a panoramic power sunroof, power-retractable assist steps with LED perimeter lighting, and an AutoSense power liftgate that opens as you approach, making loading and unloading easier.

Interior Features and Options

As fantastic as the Yukon models look from the outside, the cabin takes things even further to surround you with elegance and sophisticated style every day.

If you go with the standard Elevation model, then the 2025 Yukon features an incredible 16.8-inch advanced color LED infotainment display with Google built-in. This is joined by an 11-inch Driver Information Center screen, plus you get a 10-speaker Bose CenterPoint Surround sound system as standard inside the Yukon.

CoreTec/perforated leather-appointed seating is standard in Yukon models, featuring heated first- and second-row seats, with eight-way power front seats, plus tri-zone automatic climate control and a wireless charging pad.

Just in case the standard features for the Yukon aren’t enough for you, GMC offers a number of trim levels with plenty of remarkable upgrades. Looking again at the Denali Ultimate model, you get an 18-speaker Bose Performance Series CenterPoint Surround sound system that transforms your SUV into a mobile concert hall. The Denali Ultimate also includes a pair of 12.6-inch rear displays to keep your passengers entertained while you drive around Morris each day, plus full-grain leather seating. You’ll enjoy heated and ventilated front seats with massage functionality, a 15-inch head-up display, and much more in this model that ensures you’ll look forward to every moment you spend on the road.

Robust Off-Road Capabilities

Both of these models are great options for leaving Morris roads behind and heading off-road or getting to your favorite campsite on the weekend. The AT4 trims for them are only offered with 4WD, which makes sense, and they come with performance front skid plates, a high front fascia for a greater approach angle, and an Autotrac 2-speed transfer case with a mechanical limited-slip rear differential.

For enhanced performance and comfort, the AT4 Ultimate trim includes the available Adaptive Air Ride suspension for an incredibly smooth ride, plus 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and much more. You get excellent interior features with the AT4 Ultimate, including the 18-speaker sound system, massaging front seats, and enhanced technology to provide you with a remarkable ride each day.

Key Differences Between the Yukon and Yukon XL

So far, we’ve talked a lot about features that you can find with both the GMC Yukon and the Yukon XL—they have a lot in common after all. There’s a very clear distinction between these two models, however, which comes down to one thing: their sizes.

The standard Yukon has a 121-inch wheelbase and measures about 210 inches in overall length. It gives you plenty of room inside for up to eight passengers, and has 25.5 cu.ft. of rear cargo space, 72.5 cu.ft. of cargo volume behind the second row, and nearly 123 cu.ft. of total cargo capacity behind the front row.

Looking at the Yukon XL, it’s just over 225 inches in overall length (more than a foot longer) and has a 134-inch wheelbase. You get more than 41 cu.ft. of rear cargo space in the 2025 Yukon XL, with 93.6 cu.ft. of cargo room behind the second row, and more than 144 cu.ft. of total cargo volume behind the front seats. For the record, both models are 81 inches wide without including their mirrors and stand just over 76 inches tall. That’s a significant difference; otherwise, consider how much room you need inside your SUV and how well each model can fit into your life and garage.
